IN THIS EPISODE

Connie Sobczak is the author of Embody: Learning to Love Your Unique Body (and quiet that critical voice!), her book in which she skillfully and lovingly reconnects readers to their precious bodies, life force, and authentic beauty.

Connie’s experience with an eating disorder in her teen years and the death of her sister Stephanie fueled her desire to create a new world for her daughter Carmen to grow up in; one where all people are free to love their bodies. In 1996, she co-founded The Body Positive, a nonprofit organization that teaches people to listen to their bodies, learn, and thrive.

As a result, millions of people have been given practical tools to develop balanced, joyful self-care and a relationship with their bodies that is guided by love, forgiveness,self-care and a relationship with their bodies that is guided by love, forgiveness, and humor.

In Connie’s 2021 TEDx Talk, Embracing Your Critical Voice: The Gateway to Self-Love, she shares her painful yet powerful journey to self-love, and offers ways for others to get there as well. Connie’s passion is watching the light that emerges when people recognize and embrace their magnificent selves.

We discuss topics including:

  • What is body positive?
  • Embracing your critical voice
  • Quiet the critical voice, hearing it and becoming aware of it.
